The idea of a drive-in movie theater might sound like a foreign concept in some areas. This type of theater reaches its peak during the 1950s and 1960s. Families drove to the theater, bringing their own snacks or buying snacks from the concession stand. Most theaters offered two movies for much less than you would pay at an indoor theater. In the middle of this came the West Wind Drive-In Theatre. In past eras, it was entirely common to see kids playing at a playground and teenagers hanging out at the concession stand during the intermission between films.
West Wind Drive-In Theatres started life in the 1940s at the height of World War II. Known then as the Vallejo Auto Movies, the theatre provided a simple way for families or couples to go out without spending a lot of money. The company spread from that original location, opening new drive-ins in other cities and states. The theatres offer the tallest drive-in screens in the United States at an astounding 65-feet. No matter where you park inside, you have great screen clarity. West Wind Theaters are open year-round and seven days a week. Even if the pain is falling, you can still go to the movies.
West Wind offers multiple locations in several states: California, Arizona and Nevada. Before packing up the car and heading to the theater, check the season start date. Most locations are open throughout the year, but some close for the colder season. The Reno location, for example, closes during the winter months.
Each state has its own pricing system. In California, general admission tickets for adults cost $6.95 and in Arizona the tickets cost $6.50. Nevada charges $6.25 for adult tickets to the movies. Children under the age of five get into the movies for free, but you must pay $1 for children ages 5 to 11. The ticket entitles you to the two movies playing that night.
Family Fun Night
Wild West Theaters created Family Fun Night as a way for customers to take their family out, even those on a tight budget. Tickets on Tuesdays cost much less than tickets purchased later in the week. You still get access to $1 tickets for kids, but adult tickets drop to less than $5. If you go to the movies in California, you pay $4.95 for adult tickets. Adult tickets in Arizona cost $4.50, and tickets for adults in Nevada are priced at only $4.25.

The Wild West Theaters official website does not list any coupons, but it does list helpful information. Check out the Events tab for information on special events taking place at the different theaters, including live music and entertainment.
The official website also has a full list of all the treats available at your local theater. Treat your family to hot dogs and pizza as an entire meal or to a treat like pretzels, ice cream and chips. Save even more money by ordering the Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn. The popcorn comes with free refills through both movies.
Wild West Drive-in and Facebook
The Wild West Drive-in Facebook page is different from other theater pages. Unlike others that require you to “like” the page, with this one you actually become friends with the theater. The only way to gain full access of all the features on the page is by sending a friend request. As a friend, you can leave comments, ask questions and hear about any special events.
